Chris
Trumbauer grew up in Chestertown on Maryland’s
Eastern Shore. He spent most of his youth playing outdoors,
in and around the Chester River. His father worked for the
same small company for over 35 years, and his mother was a
schoolteacher until she choseto stay at home as a full-time
mom.
Chris received a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry from University of Maryland – College Park. After working several years for a small water treatment business in Baltimore, he took a job with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
At DNR he conducted water quality monitoring
of the Chesapeake Bay and its numerous rivers and streams.
In 2008, Chris became the West/Rhode Riverkeeper, where he
is a leading advocate for the health of Anne Arundel County
Rivers.
Chris has a strong work ethic and an extraordinary history of volunteerism in the community. He has been a volunteer for the National Aquarium in Baltimore, the Annapolis Environmental Commission, the South River Federation, and served as Chair for Annapolis Mayor Josh Cohen’s Environmental Transition Team.
Chris
lives in Tyler Heights with his family. His wife Mary, who
he met doing volunteer
stream monitoring,
is a former special education teacher who is currently staying
home with their two children, Johnny (4) and Josephine (1).
Chris is running to give a voice to working families, promote open and transparent government, and to be the environmental champion we need on the county council.
